Kane earned his nod after torching Sunray's defense, going 10-of-14 passing for 272 yards and three touchdowns while adding 57 rushing yards and two more scores on the ground. He pulled in 4,072 of the 5,384 total votes cast, good for 75.7 percent.

Madrigal made her case on the volleyball court, racking up 27 assists and 12 kills in a win for Hereford. Setting up teammates and finishing points herself, her all-around performance put her ahead of the field for the girls' award.

For folks around the South Plains who follow high school sports, these weekly polls are a chance to see which small-town athletes are turning heads outside their own district lines.
