A Dublin Police Department sergeant was driving near the sports grounds at 6700 Dublin Boulevard when he spotted a man lying on the ground in the parking lot, according to police. Officers responded around the same time to multiple 911 calls about the shooting. They found the man had been shot multiple times.
The victim, identified as Jonathan McKinsey, 40, of Dublin, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the suspects are an elderly couple, McKinsey's in-laws. Officers have not released further details on what led to the shooting or whether arrests have been made.
The killing happened in broad daylight at a neighborhood sports complex, the kind of place families use for games and practice. A witness told CBS News Bay Area they saw the confrontation unfold. Police have not said what sparked the violence between McKinsey and his wife's parents, leaving neighbors without an explanation for why a family dispute turned deadly in a spot usually filled with kids and coaches.
