Heatwave Continues Monday, Heat Advisory Issued for the South and Rolling Plains

Larry Rodriguez over at KAMC calls for a high of 102 today. Temperatures will stick in the low to mid-100s across the area. Southwest winds kick up to 10-15 mph, making that dry heat feel oppressive near Slaton or Shallowater. Expect mostly sunny skies turning partly cloudy.

This isn't just a regular summer scorcher; the National Weather Service issued a heat advisory until late tonight. That means higher risks for anyone working outside, like construction crews on the Loop, or running errands from Tech Terrace to the South Plains Mall.

Expect air conditioners city-wide to work overtime. Maybe skip that long walk along 19th Street for lunch. Kids out of school need serious hydration, especially if they're trying to play outside. A quick trip to the grocery store could be rough for folks without reliable car AC, making basic tasks feel like a marathon.
