New Texas denim brand traces jeans to Panhandle family farm - Lubbock Avalanche-Journal

Sheppard Denim Co. Is launching this November with jeans made from cotton grown on a family farm in Panhandle, Texas.

The cotton comes from Trey Williams' family farm. From there it travels to Pampa to be ginned, then moves on to Cone Denim, a mill that has been making denim for more than 130 years, where it gets spun into yarn and woven into fabric.

That kind of traceable, regional supply chain is rare in an industry that typically sources cotton and manufacturing from overseas. For people here who wear denim every single day, there's something different about knowing the field where your jeans started. West Texas cotton is already one of the most important crops grown in this region, and Sheppard Denim is betting that the story behind the fabric matters as much as the fabric itself.

The brand is built around a short list of stops between farm and finished product, which is almost the opposite of how most clothing gets made today.
