  1. Need food today? Dial 2-1-1. The South Plains Food Bank points people there for immediate help.

  2. Apply with the South Plains Food Bank online, Monday to Thursday, 8:30am to 5pm, or call 806-763-3003.

  3. A hot meal: Lubbock Impact serves a free community meal every Tuesday at 6pm. Everyone is welcome.

  4. Apply for SNAP at YourTexasBenefits.com. The site warns that applications are taking longer than usual.

  5. Pregnant or have a child under 5? Call Texas WIC at 800-942-3678.

How do I get food from the South Plains Food Bank?

Apply online through the food bank’s food assistance form, which is open Monday through Thursday, 8:30am to 5pm. The food bank also runs mobile pantry stops, children’s feeding sites and a senior box program, and its site has a ZIP code map of pickup sites. If you need food right away, the food bank says to call 2-1-1.

Who qualifies for WIC in Texas?

WIC serves pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women and families with children under 5. Anyone already on Medicaid, SNAP or TANF meets the income rules. Call 800-942-3678 to apply or find an office. Lubbock has four WIC clinics, listed below with their hours.

Are school meals free in Lubbock ISD?

Lubbock ISD lists Community Eligibility campuses, where breakfast and lunch are free for every student with no application. The notice linked from the district’s meal page is dated for an older school year, so call Lubbock ISD at 806-219-0000 to confirm your child’s school. In summer, Texas summer meal sites feed anyone 18 and under for free.
