Free walk-in doctor visits run by Texas Tech Health Sciences Center students, with lab, pharmacy, eye care and social workers. The pharmacy does not fill outside prescriptions.

UMC Health System, Patient Financial Services
Checks whether you qualify for help with UMC bills, including the Lubbock County Medical Indigent Program (the Blue Card). Uninsured patients get an automatic discount, and payment plans are interest-free.

Where can I see a doctor in Lubbock without insurance?
Community Health Center of Lubbock does not require insurance and lowers its prices based on what you can pay. Its site says no one is turned away for inability to pay. It runs several clinics, including dental. For a free visit, the student-run Free Clinic sees uninsured adults 19 to 64 on Wednesday evenings.
What if I already have a hospital bill I cannot pay?
Call the hospital that sent the bill and ask for financial assistance before it goes to collections. UMC gives uninsured patients an automatic discount and screens for the Lubbock County Medical Indigent Program. Covenant, part of Providence, offers free or reduced-cost care based on income and puts the bill on hold while you apply.
How do I apply for Medicaid, CHIP or a Marketplace plan?
Texas handles Medicaid and CHIP applications at YourTexasBenefits.com, which also has a quick screener. For private plans with possible savings, use HealthCare.gov or call 1-800-318-2596. HealthCare.gov says open enrollment starts November 1.
