Texas Tech comes out blazing, cruises to cage ACU 33-10

The Red Raiders came out sharp from the first snap, building an early lead and never letting the Wildcats back into the game. ACU, a program out of the Big Country, made the trip to Lubbock but couldn't match Tech's opening-week energy. The final margin of 23 points tells the story plainly.

For fans who packed the stadium Saturday, it was the kind of season opener you want. New name on the building, same result on the scoreboard. Red Raider faithful have been waiting since last season ended for football to return to 19th Street, and Saturday gave them something to feel good about heading into conference play.

Galaxy Stadium is the first name change the venue has carried since Jones AT&T Stadium replaced the old Clifford B. Jones name years ago, making Saturday's game a small piece of Lubbock sports history whether the final score was close or not.
