Scoggin-Dickey donates engines to South Plains College automotive program - Lubbock Avalanche-Journal

The dealership has backed the program for decades. John Zwiacher, dealer principal at Scoggin-Dickey and a 35-year advisory board member for SPC's automotive program, put the donation together. His father-in-law, John Scoggin, helped start the college's automotive program back in the 1970s, so this one runs almost fifty years deep in the family.

Zwiacher said the students always need equipment to work on, which is the whole point of the gift. Four engines might not sound like much, but for a hands-on training program, real GM V8s beat textbooks every time. Students get to pull them apart, diagnose issues, and put them back together on hardware that actually shows up in driveways and shops around Lubbock.
