A strong upper-level low pressure system pulled Polo's remnants across the Desert Southwest and into the region, dumping rain as it moved from southwest to northeast early this morning. Tornadoes remain unlikely but are not completely ruled out as storms build through tonight.
The system is expected to move north and begin occluding Wednesday morning. A dry slot has already started sliding across much of the forecast area, cutting off additional rainfall chances for most of Lubbock.
Areas off the Caprock still face the sharpest risk. Folks there should watch the sky through tonight, even as the rest of the region dries out. If you've got outdoor plans this evening in those spots, keep a backup ready, since gusts could get strong enough to snap branches or knock out power.
The storm dumped plenty of rain on Lubbock in a matter of hours, then moved on almost as fast as it arrived.
