Police ID man killed when pickup, tractor-trailer crash in east Lubbock - Lubbock Avalanche-Journal

Lubbock police say the crash happened around 7:18 a.m. Investigators believe Massey was driving north in the 3400 block of the MLK Jr. Boulevard access road and had stopped at a stop sign at East 34th before the tractor-trailer, driven by a 29-year-old, struck his pickup. Massey was the only person in his vehicle.

That stretch of East 34th sits in a part of east Lubbock where access road traffic meets a busier cross street, the kind of intersection drivers pass through without thinking twice. A fatal crash there is a reminder of how quickly a routine morning commute can turn deadly.

Police have not released details on citations or fault. The investigation into exactly how the collision unfolded remains open. Neighbors who use that corridor daily to get to work or run errands say the crash gives them one more reason to slow down at that stop sign.
