Texas Tech football's Joey McGuire updates TE Terrance Carter status - Lubbock Avalanche-Journal

Texas Tech tight end Terrance Carter Jr.
Carter made the trip to Reser Stadium in Corvallis but stood on the sideline in an orthopedic boot instead of suiting up. McGuire told reporters after the game he expects an update on Carter's status by Tuesday or Wednesday, with an eye toward getting him back for Tech's Big 12 opener.
That opener is a big one. The Red Raiders, sitting at 2-0, host Houston at Galaxy Stadium on Friday, Sept. 18, kickoff set for 7 p.m. The Cougars are also unbeaten at 2-0, making this the first real conference test of the season for Tech.
For Raider fans planning their Friday night, Carter's foot is the thing to watch this week. Losing a tight end doesn't always make headlines. But in a Big 12 opener against an undefeated team, every available body matters, and McGuire's timeline gives the coaching staff just a few days to figure out a game plan with or without him.
