The service is called Fraud Notify, and the county set it up in partnership with Tyler Technologies. The Clerk's Office recently announced it.

Here's how it works. Once you register, you get an automated email every time the office records a document under your name. That alert lets you check whether you actually filed it or whether a thief tried to get at your private information.

For property owners in Lubbock County, that means a way to keep watch on their own records. The alert is only step one, though. To confirm anything, you have to visit the County Clerk's Office at 904 Broadway, Room 207, and review the documents in person. Fraud Notify covers deeds, deeds of trust, liens, and notices. If you have questions or want to learn more, you can email countyclerk@lubbockcounty.gov or call (806) 775-1076.

One catch: court case filings are not part of the service.
