Williams started out dreaming of becoming an animator, inspired by Avatar: The Last Airbender and Pokemon. He later studied film at Hereford Sixth Form College, which he said "opened a whole world" for him. Since then he has directed his own film and worked with Marvel before landing a role on the upcoming season of Slow Horses.

Williams said he has signed multiple non-disclosure agreements over the course of his career, including one tied to his Slow Horses work, so there is only so much he can reveal about the hit Apple TV series. He credited the isolation of lockdown, when he had nothing but time and boredom, with pushing him into the industry.

For Malvern, Williams' path from film school to a major Apple TV production shows how a local student's obsession during a strange, shut-in year turned into real industry credits alongside Oldman and Scott Thomas.

Not bad for someone who started out just trying to beat boredom.
