Tech held a 7-3 lead after the first quarter. Arizona kicker Michael Salgado-Medina opened the scoring with a 35-yard field goal. Then Thomas Castellanos, in his second start this season, hit tight end Terrance Carter Jr. From 24 yards out.
Arizona flipped it fast. Quarterback Noah Fifita found receiver Isaiah Mizell for a 94-yard touchdown, making it 10-7. Later, a pass interference flag on Brice Pollock moved the Wildcats to the Tech 12, and Kedrick Reescno scored on a 5-yard run with 1:56 left.
Tech answered right away. Castellanos ripped off runs of 24 and 25 yards, and the Red Raiders took a timeout facing 4th and 3 at the Arizona 11 before Harrington kicked the field goal.
For Tech fans, this is still a one-score game, and the defense has done real work. Trey White and LaDamion Guyton each recorded sacks, and Fifita has played under frequent pressure.
Arizona holds that lead even though its ground game sat at minus-4 yards after the first quarter.
