Lubbock's sixth annual Oktoberfest packed seven craft breweries into the Pavilion at Spirit Ranch in Escondido Canyon on Sunday, October 11, and walking in cost nothing.
Presented by Spirit Ranch and Scoggin Dickey Parts, the afternoon featured Brewery LBK, Good Line Beer Co., Mano Negra, Pondaseta Brewing Co., Tall City Brewing Co., Two Docs Brewing and Triple J Brewery. German food and local vendors filled out the festivities.
SPiVEY and Joy Riot played live music, and lederhosen made it into the photo gallery. The setting did a lot of the work too. Spirit Ranch has enormous trees and plenty of green space, which looks nothing like the cotton fields and flat land people here usually see.
The event also showed how much the craft beer scene has grown in Lubbock and across West Texas. After six years, it has settled into Lubbock's fall calendar.
Lubbock sits a long way from Munich, but seven breweries and a canyon full of trees made the distance feel shorter.
