The Spirit of Children fundraiser runs on a coupon. Shoppers who use it on costumes at any Lubbock Spirit Halloween store support Covenant Children's. This year's donations will pay for play and therapeutic tools used daily, including bedside play sessions, sensory tools, comfort items, music therapy, creative arts experiences and therapeutic playroom visits.

Jessica Marlar, Senior Philanthropy Officer at Covenant Health, said the partnership gives families something hard to find in a hospital. "Through Spirit Halloween's ongoing support, patients and families across our region have access to resources that bring comfort, healing, and a sense of normalcy during their hospital stay," she said.

The track record is concrete. Covenant Children's has received nearly $375,000 through the partnership, and that money helped hire a part-time child life specialist for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, expand the artists in residence program and update and stock Lindsay's Playroom.

Marlar described what that looks like for a child. "Whether it's singing with a music therapist, finding comfort through toys, sensory items, and art, or coping with a new diagnosis alongside a child life specialist, Spirit Halloween helps ensure our teams have the resources they need to care for every child and family."
