The inspector also found Alfredo sauce and cut mango with no date mark. A tub of ice cream had cuts along its sides, and the ice cream showed through them. Dirty items sat with clean wares, and a dirty knife hung on a magnetic holder.
Employees shut off the hand sink faucet with bare hands. A barrier like a paper towel must go between hand and faucet to prevent cross contamination. Toxic items weren't stored properly either.
The lesser "core" violations ran long. A red sanitizer bucket sat on the bar floor, and trays of frozen breaded jalapenos and pickles sat uncovered. Staff dried clean wares with a cloth towel, and a citrus squeezer soaked in 62F standing water between uses. The top surfaces of the cooking equipment were visibly soiled.
For anyone who eats there, the inspector's own verdict matters most. Given the number and nature of the violations, the inspector wrote that food safety knowledge was not demonstrated. The inspector also saw multiple repeat violations and charged a $175 re-inspection fee.
Two other restaurants landed on top this week, which makes 29 violations at Bombshell's stand out even more.
