The KLBK First Warning Weather Center lists 24 Texas counties under the watch, including Lubbock, Hale, Hockley, Lamb, Floyd, Crosby and Terry. Borden, Dawson, Gaines and Scurry counties in Texas and Lea County in New Mexico have a watch that ends an hour earlier, at 7 PM CDT.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely across most of the region, and rain may fall heavy at times and cause localized flooding. Forecasters rate the flood risk as slight (2 out of 4) and marginal (1 out of 4) throughout the day.

Folks in Lubbock should expect cloudy, breezy and cooler weather, with east-southeast wind at 10 to 20 mph. Sunset comes at 6:57 PM CDT. A few showers linger into the evening and overnight, but the rain chance falls from 90 percent to 20 percent. Lows run from the upper 40s to the middle 50s, and the wind eases to 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday is Halloween, and the forecast calls for partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies, milder weather and a few lingering morning showers.
