New petitions target Flock cameras and LEDA as group heads to City Council
Save Lubbock, a resident-led group, has filed two new petitions with the City of Lubbock — one seeking to remove Flock surveillance cameras from local neighborhoods, and another calling for added oversight of the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance (LEDA). Organizers say they are also bringing a data center moratorium before City Council today.

Sanders said the group is also bringing a proposed moratorium on new data centers before City Council and the mayor at today's 2 p.m. meeting. According to organizers, adopting the moratorium directly could spare the city the cost of a special election — a figure they estimate at roughly $300,000. If the council does not act, they say the measure would likely go to a public vote.
City Council meetings are open to the public. Residents who want to weigh in — for or against — can attend in person or watch the livestream.
