UMC will host its "Shine a Light" on Lung Cancer event Thursday, Nov. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The evening centers on education, hope and support. Providers from the TLC2 Cancer Center will give presentations, and lung cancer survivors will share their personal journeys. UMC invites patients, caregivers, family members and community supporters too.
The American Cancer Society estimated 226,650 new lung cancer cases in the United States for 2025. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. It reaches people directly, or through a family member or friend.
Kathryn Crain, Director of Oncology at UMC TLC2 Foundation Cancer Center, said, "We are committed to shining a light on lung cancer and supporting patients and their families through every stage of their journey."
Each light, Crain said, represents hope, remembrance, and a continued commitment to lung cancer prevention and care.
