The trailer plays over the original show's theme song, "I'm Always Here." It packs in a small plane crash, a wildfire in the hills near the beach and an exploding lifeguard tower. A healthy dose of interpersonal drama among the team fills the gaps.

Amell plays Hobie Buchannon, a Baywatch Captain following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Mitch, whom David Hasselhoff played in the original series. Hobie's world turns upside down when his daughter, Charlie Vale, shows up on his doorstep. Jessica Belkin plays her, and Charlie is eager to carry on the Buchannon family legacy.

The cast is again very attractive people playing lifeguards. Hassie Harrison, Shay Mitchell, Thaddeus LaGrone, Noah Beck and Brooks Nader also star, while Livvy Dunne and David Chokachi, a regular on the original, will have recurring roles. The show films on Venice Beach and other Los Angeles locations, with McG directing the premiere and Matt Nix of Burn Notice executive producing.

The trailer makes its own pitch: the original was once the most popular show in the world, so why mess with it?
