Baylor (10-5, 2-3) took the first set 25-15 by siding out over 90 percent of the time and hitting over .450. Tech committed four attack errors, the same as Baylor, but managed only seven kills against a Baylor back row that dug 13 balls. The Red Raiders nearly doubled that kill total in the second set. Baylor still hit .324 with 15 kills and three errors, and won 25-20 even after Tech pulled within two late.
The third set was the closest. It had 11 ties and lead changes. Baylor led 15-12 at the media timeout, then Tech tied it at 17 and grabbed the lead on the next point. Baylor called timeout down 22-20, Tech forced set point, and the Bears answered to win 28-26.
Kenna McKenzie led Tech with 11 kills. Tatum Johnson posted six blocks, one of them solo, and Gretchen Sigman added five. Katelyn Cochran's 27 assists were a team high. Elia Dinsmore had eight digs and libero Emily Contreras had seven. The team's only ace came from Ashlyn Bellamy. Tech drops to 8-9 overall and travels to TCU and Houston next week.
