Charleston and Iowa share that spot in the 15-team field. Missouri, Illinois and Indiana lead at 16-under 560. The Red Raiders shot 295 in the first round and 286 in the second.
Freshman Parat Sukanant powered the climb. She opened with a 5-over 77, then carded a 4-under 68, the lowest round by any Red Raider on the day. That matched her season low, which she first set at The Bruzzy, Texas Tech's season-opening tournament. The 68 moved her into a tie for 36th at 1-over 145.
Angel Yin leads the Red Raiders, tied for 23rd at 1-under 143 after rounds of 71 and 72. She plays as an individual, the sixth Red Raider on the trip. Maja Ambroziak and Cameron Freund are tied for 45th at 2-over 146. Klara Hurtova is tied for 52nd at 3-over 147, and Tarini Bhoga is tied for 63rd at 5-over 149.
For folks following the team, Tuesday decides everything. The Red Raiders sit 21 strokes behind the three-way lead, so the final round is about moving up a crowded middle of the board. It begins with a 9 a.m. CT shotgun start.
Sukanant gained nine shots between rounds, the same improvement the whole team found.
