Texas Tech is 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Big 12 after a 29-7 win at Colorado. Earlier this season, the AP poll had the Red Raiders bouncing between 11 and 13. They first cracked the coaches top 10 on Sept. 20, after a Friday night win over Houston opened league play.

That 5-0 start is the second in a row for Texas Tech, and only four FBS programs can say that: Texas Tech, BYU, Indiana and Miami (Fla.). The Colorado win also gave Joey McGuire 40 victories, making him the first Texas Tech head coach to get there in 58 or fewer games.

Next up is Homecoming. Texas Tech hosts Arizona State Saturday at a sold-out Galaxy Stadium, with kickoff at 2:30 p.m. CT on FOX. It pairs the last two Big 12 champions. The league has five ranked schools, led by BYU at No. 8 in both polls, and Utah sits just behind Tech at No. 11 in both.

McGuire's program has now appeared in the polls for 24 consecutive weeks dating back to the start of 2025, the longest streak in program history.
