Downtown Lubbock
History, culture, the farmers market, and a neighborhood finding its stride.
Highlights
Downtown Lubbock runs from 4th Street south to 19th Street, between Avenue Q and I-27 — the City's own Central Business District boundary. It is home to the farmers market, the Buddy Holly Center, city government, and a growing number of restaurants and bars that have moved into the historic buildings. It's less dense than the Depot District but has more history.
Know Before You Go
The Saturday farmers market runs from roughly April through October. Get there before 10am for the best produce selection.
Downtown is more spread out than the Depot District — you'll want a car between destinations.
Broadway is the main east-west corridor. Avenue Q is the main north-south.
The Buddy Holly Center is free and genuinely worth an hour, even if you're not a fan.
