Lubbock police arrested two men Tuesday, October 6, after a theft at a store on the 3400 block of I-27 turned into an SUV chase that ended with a crash into two parked cars.
The Lubbock Police Department answered a call about two people trying to steal items from the store. When officers arrived, 48-year-old Joshua Gordy ran on foot. He did not get far. Officers caught him and placed him under arrest.
The other suspect, 34-year-old Keegan Bell, took off in an SUV and got away at first. An officer pulled him over about 10 minutes later. Bell ignored the order to stop and kept driving, which started a pursuit.
Bell drove east on 34th Street, lost control and went over the curb. His SUV crashed into two parked cars in a parking lot. He jumped out and ran, but after a brief foot chase, officers took him into custody.
Nobody got hurt. Both men went to the Lubbock County Detention Center, and police started a Major Crash Investigation Unit callout. Gordy faces one count of theft. Bell faces one count each of theft, evading arrest and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
