Stowers started the shop in Friona and recently made the move to Hereford. She says that puts her ahead of the pack. "I would say I was one of the first boutiques that started in the Panhandle," Stowers said. "So I would consider myself one of the OGs."

"I'm so grateful for Friona because they jump started my business," she said. By her account, the town's central location pulled in shoppers from a bunch of other communities. Hereford has won her over too. "What I love most about Hereford is, Hereford supports Hereford," she said. Shoppers from surrounding towns still make the drive to see her.

For a small shop owner, Stowers says local backing decides everything. "The support of your community is the most important and biggest thing to make your small business succeed in a small community, because small businesses are the backbone of your community," she said. When neighbors shop local, the benefit reaches past the owner and "helps the whole community."
