Penix took a big hit from Ravens linebacker Tavius Robinson late in regulation. He came out for one play, then returned and threw an incompletion before the Falcons punted on the final play of the fourth quarter.

The Ravens got the ball first in overtime. Tagovailoa re-entered the game after Baltimore's touchdown with 2:57 left on the clock.

Penix said afterward that he thinks he could have stayed in if the Falcons had gotten the ball first. But the pain kept growing while he sat. "It just started to get worse and worse as we were sitting there," he said. He did not feel he could give the team what it needed to win.

More testing is coming. "Knowing me, I am going to be ready to go next week because I've sat out enough in my career," he said, via the team's website. He added that he will work his tail off in the training room to get back on the field. The Bears are next Sunday.

Penix finished 19-of-32 for 240 yards and a touchdown. It was the Falcons' first loss since he returned to the lineup in Week 3.
