Jayton is now 4-1, while two other teams stayed perfect Thursday night. The Idalou Wildcats (6-0) beat the Vernon Lions 7-0 for their sixth consecutive victory, and it was their toughest challenge so far this season. The Ropes Eagles (5-0) went to Hereford and beat West Texas 69-0.
That was the second week in a row Ropes posted 60-plus points against a respectable opponent. Lubbock-Cooper had a harder Friday night. The Pirates are still looking for their first win after a 37-14 loss to the Wichita Falls Legacy Leopards at Pirate Stadium.
Off the field, emails sent to Texas Tech Athletics Director Kirby Hocutt are providing new details about what led to the Sept. 13 termination of Head Volleyball Coach Tony Graystone.
