Los Hermanos Familia organizes the parade, which honors veterans and all who have served in Lubbock. The route starts at Avenue A, heads east down Broadway and ends at the American Windmill Museum, 1701 Canyon Lake Drive. Participants can set up as early as 8 a.m.
The 2026 theme is "250 Years of Freedom," which celebrates the American flag and the Pledge of Allegiance. Steve Oien, a parade co-chair, said on KCBD's Noon Notebook that organizers want to honor WWII veterans this year. The Veterans Parade Committee of Los Hermanos Familia and the Purple Hearts of the South Plains 0900 will name them grand marshals.
Marching costs nothing, though registration is required, and the lineup is open to veterans, families and anyone else who wants to take part.
Know someone who served in World War II? Send their name and contact information to Los Hermanos Familia at loshermanosfamilia@gmail.com, and the committee will have it for the grand marshal honors.
