Zelenskyy called the attack "particularly vile." On social media, he wrote that intelligence from Ukraine's western allies saves lives and is "one of the most critical issues," though he did not assign blame for the missing warning and called it unfortunate.
The comments follow a weekend of explicit threats from US officials, who told their Ukrainian counterparts the Trump administration was on the brink of halting intelligence sharing with Kyiv. Speaking in Warsaw, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said cooperation was continuing. He blamed the lack of warning on a "special type" of Russian weaponry.
The fight over oil sits underneath all of this. Trump has demanded Ukraine stop attacking Russian oil refineries and has blamed Zelenskyy for higher fuel prices in the US. On Friday he announced a deal with Vladimir Putin to import Russian diesel, dropping earlier sanctions. He also said Moscow and Kyiv had agreed to an "energy ceasefire," which Zelenskyy called "news to me."
Zelenskyy said Ukraine's military hit no Russian refineries or energy facilities for two days after Trump's Sunday announcement, while Russia kept bombing Ukraine's energy infrastructure with multiple attacks.
Ukrainian commanders say they don't need American intelligence to pick targets for deep strikes on Russia.
