Kickoff came at 2:45 p.m. Under sunny skies and 58 degrees, and a sellout crowd of 60,229 packed the stadium. Tech led 21-7 after the first quarter.

The win gives Tech a 4-3 edge in the all-time series, and since the Sun Devils joined the Big 12, the home team has won all three meetings. Indiana is the only other FBS team to start both 2025 and 2026 at 6-0.

For folks in Lubbock, home games have turned into a habit. Tech has won 12 straight at home, which matches the second-longest home streak in program history, last accomplished during the 2007-09 seasons. Joey McGuire is now 26-5 in home games, an 83.9 percent win rate. The Red Raiders also started Big 12 play 3-0 for the third time under McGuire. This is the eighth 6-0 start in school history, joining 1938, 1976, 1998, 2005, 2008, 2013 and 2025. Arizona visits Oct. 31, when Tech will attempt to match the program's all-time home winning streak record.

Tech has not lost at Galaxy Stadium since Colorado on Nov. 9, 2024. The record dates to the World War II era.
