Tech (6-0, 3-0 Big 12) led 43-10 at halftime and cruised from there. The jump got help from chaos above them. Five teams ranked in the top seven of last week's AP Poll lost Saturday, including No. 1 Georgia at home to unranked Auburn and No. 7 Texas at home to unranked Florida. No. 8 BYU also beat No. 2 Notre Dame 28-24 in Provo.

Next up is Cincinnati (4-2, 1-2 conference) on Saturday. The Big 12 set kickoff for 11 a.m. CT, and FS1 will carry the game nationwide. The AP Poll comes out around 1 p.m. CT Sunday, and the first College Football Playoff rankings land Tuesday, Nov. 3.

For people here, that means an early Saturday game with the whole country watching. It also means a home crowd with something to chase. Tech's 12 straight home wins match the second-longest streak in program history, set from 2007 to 2009. Joey McGuire is 26-5 as head coach at home in Lubbock. The Red Raiders have also started Big 12 play 3-0 three seasons in a row under him, and they now lead the Arizona State series 4-3.

The home winning streak record Tech can match against Arizona on Oct. 31 has stood since the 1939-42 seasons.
