Is Hale County on the state's data center investigation list?

No. Hale County is not among the 18 counties named on Sept. 24, 2026.

  • A county that is not on the list is not an all-clear. The release says "including," and the Attorney General's office describes the investigation as reaching all data center developments in Texas. This page can only report the counties named on September 24, 2026.

Aligned Data Centers

A six-building campus just outside Abernathy, in Hale County, not Lubbock County. Aligned says its closed-loop cooling design recirculates the same water and protects the Ogallala Aquifer. Hale County is not among the counties named in the Attorney General's announcement.

Aligned announced a groundbreaking on April 9, 2026. It lists the first facility, LBB-01, as anticipated in service in the first quarter of 2027.
