Is Kent County on the state's data center investigation list?

No. Kent County is not among the 18 counties named on Sept. 24, 2026.

  • A county that is not on the list is not an all-clear. The release says "including," and the Attorney General's office describes the investigation as reaching all data center developments in Texas. This page can only report the counties named on September 24, 2026.

Project Hyper spur buildings (Jayton)

Two single-story data center buildings of 759,262 square feet each, listed at Country Road 233 and P2390 near Jayton. Each is estimated at $2.4 billion, with construction starting in January 2027 and finishing in mid-2029. The filings give no power or water figures.

Two state project registrations dated Oct. 1, 2026 list the buildings. They name two LLCs as owners and no tenant. Data Center Dynamics reports that Crusoe filed them; the filings do not say so. Separately, the Texas Spur reports that Kent County commissioners voted June 8, 2026 to take a first step toward tax talks with Crusoe on a Kent County data center. No source we found says whether that is the same project.
